5 Mistakes You're Making When You Fill in Your Eyebrows

Most women are guilty of spending too much time filling in their eyebrows to achieve that natural and effortless look. After all, brow makeup is no less than art that requires knowledge of various skills and techniques. It may take a while to nail these skills; therefore, be patient and open to knowing what works and does not. Moreover, we often unknowingly make various mistakes that can lead to a disaster. Worry not!

Below, we have listed the top five mistakes to avoid when filling in your eyebrows!

1. You are using the wrong product: The products you use to fill in your brows come in various forms: pencils, powders, gels, and waxes. However, you must ensure that you use the product that fits your skill level and looks best. For instance, a brow mapping pencil is best for filling in a few hairs that might be missing, while an eyebrow styling gel works best if you have full brows and just need to keep unruly brows in place.

2. Your brow product is not the right shade: Ideally, your brow products should be a shade lighter than your hair colour. Using a dark shade makes makeup look obvious or harsh instead of natural. Celebrity makeup artists also use lighter tones as they look more natural. For instance, if you have dark brown hair, choose the best brow pencil in the shade light or medium brown. Make sure the brows complement your face, not overpower the features.

3. You are filling in your brows that are not properly groomed: Many people make the mistake of filling in their brows when they are grown out. You should regularly get your brows waxed or threaded to make the filling process easier and faster, as the brow shape will be clearly visible.

4. You are creating a new brow shape instead of just following on your own: Many people fill in their eyebrows in shapes that are not natural. Make sure the space and skin between the brow hairs are visible, even if you have dense brows. Refrain from filling in little space between the hair to avoid overwhelming brows.

You should know what your eyebrows are supposed to like and stay within those parameters. Basically, work with what you already have!

5. You are applying too much highlighter under your brows: Applying a highlighter under the arch of the brow is a common technique to lift up the eye area. However, using the wrong colour or formula can be a disaster and steal all the attention from your brows. You must use a gentle highlighter, and if you use a concealer to highlight, it should not be too light in the shade. Generally, makeup artists use a concealer that is only slightly lighter than your skin tone.
